Buying Stuff Online

Have you ever use ebay to buy or sell something? If the answer is yes, you may already realize the advantage of using it. Otherwise you may want to give it a try. Ebay is the world largest online auction site. Online transaction grows day by day. More and more people use online media to research products that they are going buy and do the transaction online.

There are several advantage of buying stuff online:
1. You can make the purchase anytime
2. You can make the purchase anywhere, yes I mean anywhere using your smartphone browser
3. Buy product that is not available in your town, city or country
4. Buy product that you do not know where to get
5. Buy product at cheaper price, I personally bought my htc screen protector at much cheaper price on ebay
6. Research the product online before pressing the buy button, you can open different browser to do it
7. And the most important thing is THERE IS NO SALESPERSON THAT COME AND DISTURB YOU. This matters for some people including me. They can sometimes affect your decision and mess up everything.

Well, buying stuff online also has its disadvantages:
1. No salesperson to ask
2. You cannot touch or try the stuff
3. You need a credit card
4. Seller reputation is important
5. Delivery time and cost

Although there are some disadvantages of buying stuff online, the advantage greatly outweight the disadvantages in certain cases or product type. As we can see, online transaction grows day by day and more and more company has established their online store.

A Farmer and A Donkey

Once upon a time in a small village on Alcaz island live a farmer with his donkey. One day the farmer went to the town to sell apples that he just harvested with his donkey. On the way back they walk pass a small forest. Suddenly the donkey fall into a deep hole. The hole was so deep, it is impossible for for the monkey to climb out if it. The farmer thought "What can I do, the hole is soo deep. Ahh never mind lar, it is an old donkey anyway. I just go and buy a new donkey online. It will be delivered in few days time." The farmer continued his journey home. The donkey said "Aaaaa help.. help.. what am I going to do, die lar.."

After walking for some time, the farmer felt guilty and sad leaving his donkey behind. He then went to his friend to ask for help. They came back to the spot witha shovel in hand. The farmer friend then started to shovel earth down to the hole. The donkey said "Oh wat the toot help.. help.." because the earth has started to bury him. The donkey started to struggle, he use his feet to reach out and jump, shake of the earth from his body, screaming and strugle to survive.

Because of his strugle, instead of burying him alive, the earth started to fill the hole. The donkey move higher and higher and higher out of the hole. The farmer wad very happy to get his donkey back.

Moral of the story? When everything seems to go againts you, chances are you are on the right track to get out of the hole.

Global Internet Seminar

Attended "Global Internet Seminar" 2 weeks ago at Singapore Expo. My sister bought the ticket for me. It was an eye opener. I did not realize that there are so many opportunities out there. It is not that most of the things they introduced there were new, I already know some of it all this time but I just too ignorant and lazy to notice it.

The seminar was about how to make money online. I've summarized it on the first post in this blog. The other thing I learned from the seminar was how to be a good public speaker. Most of the speakers are extremelly good public speaker and sales person. Yes, I mean "sales person". They are selling Internet Marketing courses.

Don't get me wrong, you are not forced to buy any of these courses. Actually, you really don't need to buy any of these courses if you already in the IT field or have Internet experience. You already have everyting you need to get started. It's just a matter of want or don't want. I really recommend you to attend this seminar if it is held in the future. I ticket cost S$10.- in Nov 2010.

Monkey See Monkey Do

I heard this story in a seminar few days back. Quite an interesting story, I believe everybody like a story, so why not I share this story.

There was an experiment conducted by some psychological expert in an unspecified country. Guess what? It involves monkeys, you can guess from the title. Ten monkeys were put inside a closed room in a lab. A banana tree was planted in the middle of the room and a trap was set. Everybody will start asking, what is the trap for? Here is how the trap works: it will detect anything that come near to the banana on the tree and spray pressurised water to push the invader out from the banana.

Naturally monkeys love banana, what happens was these monkeys tried to climb the tree and grab the banana. Every time the monkeys almost reach the banana, pressurised water was sprayed. As the results all monkeys would fall back to the ground. This incident terrified these minkeys. They no longer dare to climb the banana tree.

A week later the trap was switched off and a new set of 10 monkeys were put into the room. Every time the 2nd batch of monkeys tried to climb the tree, monkeys from the previous batch will pull them down. This happened every time till they stop trying.

When the following week came, a new set of 10 monkeys were put into the room. Ten monkeys from the first batch were taken out. Surprisingly enough, when the new monkeys tried to reach the banana, monkeys from the 2nd batch will try to stop them by pulling them down frim the tree. The same thing happened to the 4th 5th and 6th batch. Even though the trap has been switched off.

Moral of the story? Sometimes people around us will attempt stop us from trying something new just out of concern that we may get into trouble. Most of the times, their worries are unfounded. Don't let other people opinion stop you from achieving your dream if you believe in what you are doing.
